Now in its second year, the Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) Programme in BCC continues to grow from strength to strength. This two-year, practical and career-focused senior cycle programme offers students a unique opportunity to learn through experience, reflection, and real-world application.
The LCA combines classroom learning with hands-on projects, work experience, and community involvement. Students complete modules in areas such as Vocational Preparation & Guidance, Mathematical Applications, English & Communications, Leisure & Recreation, and chosen Vocational Specialisms like Hotel, Catering & Tourism, Craft and Design, Childcare, or Graphics & Construction.
Assessment is continuous, rewarding students’ effort, attendance, and achievement through Key Assignments, Tasks, and Final Examinations, ensuring progress is recognised at every step. Students also complete work experience placements, gaining invaluable insights into future careers and building confidence, teamwork, and responsibility.
At BCC, we are proud to see our LCA students thriving as active, creative, and engaged learners who are supported by a dedicated teaching team. The programme promotes personal growth, lifelong learning, and community engagement, preparing each student for further education, training, or employment.
