The Parents’ Council plays a vital role in the life of our school and is an important link between parents, students and school management. Its primary role is to represent the voice of parents and to support the school community in a positive, collaborative way.
The Parents’ Council holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year and meets approximately five times during the school year. These meetings provide an opportunity for parents to raise ideas, share feedback and work in partnership with the school to support students’ learning and wellbeing.
A key aspect of the Council’s work is fundraising. Funds raised by the Parents’ Council are an important supplement to school resources and help to support a wide range of school activities and extracurricular events that might not otherwise be possible. Their contribution enhances students’ experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
One of the many ways they support is in providing refreshments at school events such as graduation ceremonies, awards ceremonies and, more recently, tea and coffee at parent–teacher meetings for a small charge as a fundraiser. All of this work; fundraising and helping at events, depends on the generosity of parents who volunteer their time and support.
We greatly value the positive working relationship we have with the Parents’ Council and recognise it as an essential and appreciated part of our school community.
